Texas megachurch pastor charged in sex sting

A minister to married adults at Prestonwood Baptist Church, a prominent Dallas-area Southern Baptist megachurch, has resigned after being charged in an Internet sex sting.

Open letter to the Southern Baptist Convention

(EDITOR'S NOTE - Hammer resigned as an International Mission Board regional director, calling two policies "extrabiblical, unnecessary and restricting the flow of good conservative candidates" who want to serve IMB. Hammer and his family left the field for stateside assignment May 5. They plan to be reassigned to a field assignment upon their return. Parts of this letter have previously been leaked to a web blog and a few excerpts were in a Baptist Press article. Below is the letter in its entirety.)
